Magnum was hit by a car....whoever hit him drove away and left him to die. A kind woman picked him and took him to a vet where his left rear leg was amputated. He also had some nerve damage to his left front leg. He learned to walk on his two right legs. He is an amazing dog! His left front leg is doing better...but he still knuckles his foot under sometimes. The vet thinks he will stop doing this at some point but in the meantime he is developing a callous. Magnum is great with dog, cats, kids, adults and never meets a stranger. He does not see himself as challenged in any way, is very energetic and has no problem getting around. Please look past his exterior and give him the chance he deserves after overcoming so much! Magnum will make a great family pet. Update from foster 1/4/11 - I can't tell you just how sweet Magnum really is !!!! He is completely accepted by all my dogs. He is now laying at my feet next to 5 other Danes. I will enjoy every minute of his time with me ....this is a very special boy....so full of trust and love. I did get his front ankle wrapped in an antibiotic pad with support to the ankle . He still wants to drag that foot . I plan to try a light weight dog splint tomorrow to see if he can walk on his foot better . I was able to make him a rubber mat covered area outside so to keep him out of the dirt and give him a softer area to potty and play . He does bark at me when he needs to go out.....so smart . This boy will make a wonderful family dog ....not a mean bone in his body.....loves people .
