BAILEY is a Beagle/Shepherd mix weighing approximately 40 pounds and fully grown. She’s happy, loving, and energetic and needs a loving parent who has experience with abused dogs

Bailey loves to be with her person at all times and will curl up at your feet in the evening—or right beside you on the couch if she’s allowed. She’s fine when left at home unattended—either loose or in her crate—but she does seem to have some separation anxiety when her person is home. She likes to be right there with you. If left in the backyard, she will cry and scratch at the door when she’s ready to come inside and will continue until she’s let in. She is very good-natured and loves to play with a friend (if you have another dog in the home), and she is good with cats. She is trained on basic commands, house broken (unless she's frightened), and crate trained. She loves her crate, her safe place. Bailey loves to play and always needs toys to chew on, or she will find her own. Fetch and tug-of-war are her favorite games, second only to ripping the cotton out of her stuffed toys.

Bailey is a sweetheart but she’s had a difficult life. We don't know what she's been through, but we believe she is a victim of cruel abuse. Most importantly, Bailey has fear issues and needs someone who is patient and strong and willing to spend time working with her. She does not trust men, and it often takes time for her to warm up to new people. Most little noises make her jump—like setting down a glass too hard or shaking out a new trash bag. Surprisingly, she is very comfortable around the vacuum and seems fascinated by it. When’s she’s really unsure and nervous—mostly when new people come into the home—Bailey begins trembling and will pee wherever she is. Going for a walk can be challenging because she constantly pulls on the leash. When at the dog park or out for a walk, she has a habit of barking at people

Overall, Bailey is a good dog and would be a wonderful adoptee for someone who has the patience to work with her and make her feel safe. Bailey's current foster is available to answer any questions if you're interested in adopting Bailey.
