Ruger is a sweet and gorgeous, white, male German Shepherd mix. He is approximately 1 year old and should gain 8-10 pounds. Ruger is very smart and willing to please, which means he has quickly learned basic obedience commands. He is crate-trained, housebroken and has a moderate energy level. He is good with kids and other dogs and appears to be cat neutral.

Proverbs pulled him from a high kill shelter. Within days of being in his foster home he began throwing up and acting very lethargic. He was immediately taken to Cornerstone Animal Hospital in Dickson, TN. An exploratory surgery revealed that 1.5 feet of his small intestine had to be removed because the intestine slid within itself and caused the tissue to swell and die. This condition is rare and is called
intussusception.

Ruger is now back in his foster home and is resting peacefully and gaining weight and energy. He has been through so much, but we are trusting nothing but good days lie ahead.
