A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR
Most days I feel like my heart will burst. I see so much need and can only do what our limited funds allow or what we can juggle. There is never a day that I do not get multiple calls, emails, letters, begging for help for some helpless animal abandoned, tied to a tree, scheduled to die, suffering from neglect, limping with broken bones, being a burn victim, or simply living homeless. With these type animals the vetting is astronomical. Multiple heartworm treatments, cancer, ulcerated eyes, parvo,bacterial skin infections, bladder stones, chronic ear infections, tumors, even maggots in the flesh are just a few with which we have dealt in the past year.. What is the answer? Well, with Proverbs it is ,"We will fix it some way." Just so everyone knows, there are VERY few rescues who will even take this on. Most have no choice but to turn animals away. I have no condemnation of those rescues..I understand the pragmatic side, but in my heart I HAVE to find a way to continue this mission. That is not to say we can take every case, but those whom we get who need care MUST get it. I see the sad face of an animal, who by no fault of theirs, is a victim. Suffering or discomfort and mere survival are all they have known. There is NO greater joy than watching those type pets get well, get adopted, and know the feeling of a full tummy, a gentle touch, and absence of pain or fear.

Proverbs 12:10 is a 501(c)3 organization and we will issue a tax receipt to all donors whether the donation is made directly to us or to one of our vets in our name.
Proverbs 12:10 provides medical treatment to any and all puppies in our care that come down with Parvo - most puppies are euthanized the minute Parvo is suspected. The cost of this treatment can be in excess of $1,000.00 per puppy.
We rescued a 3 mos. old chihauhau mix puppy that was to be put down because he had a severe case of mange. After six months of foster care and continual medical treatment he was finally well enough to be placed into a loving home where he continues treatment.
We have had females with mammary tumors, a ShihTzu with an eye ulcer, a Westie with no hair from her neck back due to long term neglect of a skin infection and many dogs that have required heartworm treatment. Not to mention the medical issues and expenses incurred with the "hoarder" dogs from Cheatham County. The list goes on and on. You can review our available pets as well as our success stories and imagine the costs incurred for many of them.
Shown below are momma dog. She was pulled from a shelter the day she was scheduled to be euthanized. The pups were born in a foster home where she was allowed to care for them until they were adopted. Momma was then spayed and now has a loving home of her own. The second picture is a picture of Little Iris who require long term skin care prior to being placed in a permanent home.
We understand these are difficult financial times, but should you or someone you know be able to assist us in our mission, we ask that you consider making a donation directly to one of the vets listed below. They have kept us going through the years by allowing us to go "on tabs" which are frequently quite substantial.
