About Bubba

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes
This boy is so handsome he takes your breath away. Rescued as a stray from a farmer who threatened to shoot him if we didn't pick him up immediately, we have had Bubba fully vetted and he is in terrific shape. He is friendly yet reserved. He gets along well with other dogs and was protecting other dogs and a litter when we rescued them all. We believe he is purebred. Will require a fenced yard and daily exercise. He will make an excellent new buddy for some very lucky person. Now, a word from Bubba: Hello! My name is Bubba and I am about 15 months young and I'm a big boy. Right now I only weigh about 97 pounds but my breed's average weight is 110-150 lbs. My foster mom feeds me all day long to make my bones dissapear. My beginning was less than romantic. Someone bought me to guard and herd sheep and cattle. But I have no prey drive and little dogs annoy me. So they called Proverbs 12:10 and said come get this dog or we will shoot him. At first I was out of control and had no manners so Proverbs sent me to an Animal Behavior Specialist for in-house training lasting 4 weeks. Wow, what one will do for that perfect home. Now I sleep with my foster mom's son and love to take his blanket. His head takes up way too much space on the pillow. I was recently neutered (I still miss those things), UTD on all my shots. My foster put me on Frontline and Heartguard. I am housetrained, crate trained and couch trained. I heel and will sit at the front door to await you and the leash. I even let you walk out of the door first to take me for walks. I am 100% breed standard with one tiny little flaw. I do not have a prey drive to save my life. I will look at kitties and mice and such and just shrug. No chasing for me. Who wants to chase things when I can sleep on the couch? I am a fluffy bundle of love and kisses. You have to have a firm hand with me though because I will try and test you to get back my Alpha Status. Not with my foster mom though. She told me only one Alpha allowed and it isn't me. First they take my... then they try...well, never mind. It's all ok if it lands me a forever home! This is what I long for... a home that has a HUGE bed for me and a decent sized fenced yard. I love to go outside but I refuse to live outside. I am way too handsome and snuggly to be outside all the time. I eat a lot and I have a routine that I like... I sleep, eat, walk, sleep, eat walk, kiss, snuggle and get A LOT of belly rubs. I am not moving into an apartment. I am told that I need a firm handler that is confident like me and likes to show me off. Kids are ok but you have to remember that I am big and can accidentally knock your two legged kid over. Cats are ok; other dogs are fine too. Foster mom says come adopt me before she runs out of food.
