Tux - now known as "The Dude" was adopted in March 2007 and has been returned due to their daughter's allergies. He is fully vetted and is a loving, mild mannered border collie/black lab mix. He is wonderful with kids and other dogs. He is house trained, crate trained, and understands all basic commands (sit, down, place, bed, etc). The Dude is on "the diet."
NOTE FROM FOSTER: 8/8/10 -We started fostering Dude yesterday and so far he has been an absolutely sweet dog - getting along with all three of our dogs and playing with our adopted Siberian. Of note - our Siberian Simon was a rescue and did not know how to play until recently. He is about five and is now acting like a young dog. He and Dude are playing and having a ball - He wants to eat and eat; however, does not need a lot of treats or to eat more than his daily allowance a day. Still has a few pounds to lose. He appears very healthy and very very sweet. Will update you as the week progresses.
DUDE - LOVES BEING WITH CHILDREN OF ALL AGES. HE WILL FOLLOW THEM AROUND THE HOUSE - LOVES TO PLAY WITH THEM - LOVES TO JUST BE WITH THEM. FROM 1 YEAR OLD TO 4 YEARS OLD - HE LOVES THEM. HE ALSO LOVES TO PLAY WITH TOYS AND TENNIS BALLS.
DUDE AND CATS - We have one cat named Jade - It has been so fun watching Jade and Dude. Jade will not back down and Dude appears to be just a little afraid of her. He will walk toward her very timidly and she will walk toward him and as she does he will back up and up until he is in a corner or a wall. Then he will try to play with her and she tries to play back, but it scares him. - HE IS GOOD WITH CATS! Does not try to hurt her or act aggressive at all.
Prior Posting 2007: This baby was born out in the woods to a stray black lab. Residents of a nearby house heard the puppies but could not find them. One day the mother dog left the puppies(7) on the front porch. She probably knew she couldn't take care of them in recent freezing weather. They are all living in foster care and seem to be very healthy and happy.
