Redd is two years old (12/09) and was going to be put down because of bad hips a year ago. We brought him to an ortho specialist a year ago who removed both ball joints at the same time in both his hips and he is a new dog! He has made an incredible recovery and now is playful, active, and pain free. Redd weighs 55 lbs. and is fully vetted. Six foot fence required.
He would be okay with teens but younger kids remind him of before his hip surgery when he was in so much pain and he associated young kids with them bothering his hips.
His foster says: He is the sweetest-faced dog and is a loveable companion!! Redd desires a lot of exercise and is quite a "bonder" and VERY sensitive due to a double hip surgery which kept him isolated and bed ridden for the first year of his life. He's very smart and chases a pen light for hours and then jumps in the hot tub on his own. Makes you laugh with his wonky hip joints, crooked ears, hysterical joy in swimming & constant expressive attention to YOU. He hates loud noises or raised voices and will chew on your stuff when ignored, so put your shoes away when you go to work! Redd can run faster than the wind and likes jogging along side you, riding in the car and, of course, swimming, which he does by himself in the pool for hours, growling and barking, while splashing in the water. He's the life of any river or swimming pool party!! UPDATE: Redd needs a foster now. He is unhappy being boarded after his previous life of luxury. Six foot fence required.
