Poor sweet Sammy was rescued recently along with Milly and Poppy from a very bad breeding situation. Unlike the others, Sammy had many, many issues. His ears are stained from horrific ear infections but all is now taken care of now and we've also had him fully vetted. Additionally, 13 teeth had to be extracted due to negkect and he is only 7 which isn't old at all for a schnauzer. Thankfully, he is heartworm negative. Acts as though he has spent very little, if any, time outside a crate. He's very frightened of humans and will not make a move when humans are near. He will reluctantly walk and eat but stays in a confined area of his large new kennel. Has shown no aggression - just distrust only. Part of his reluctance to walk may have been due to his poor living condition. Our groomer says his feet were so matted between the toes and partially matted to his rear end so he could not move them. But Sweet Sammy is on the mend, physically and emotionally. 24 hrs after his vetting, he actually came when called and then softly licked the hand of his rescuer! We feel he will heal his broken spirit given time and attention. It's time for a loving human experience for this sweet fellow.
