Perry is a quiet senior boy who spends his day snuggled up next to his foster mom while she works. Wherever she goes, Perry is not far behind. His favorite time of the week is movie night when he can cuddle up on the couch with his foster family and fall asleep in mom or dad’s lap. With one look in his soulful, gentle eyes, you are sure to fall in love.
The best forever home for Perry will be a calm one with patient humans. When he came to Proverbs, Perry was emaciated, heartworm positive and terrified of the smallest noise or touch. The sound of a phone being set down would cause him to jump up and run away.
With fantastic healthcare and two loving foster homes, he has blossomed into a sweet boy who allows belly rubs, pets and most recently, kisses on the snout. He does well on the leash for short walks around the cul-de-sac and after the first few minutes of fear in the car, he does like to go for rides.
Perry is very food motivated and loves his treats and his dinner warm. He does, however, require his foster mom to be in the room while he eats, so his new home may need to continue with this process.
He is potty trained and will shake his collar when he wants to go outside. At first, Perry had to have foster mom outside watching him go, but he has now gained enough confidence to go out on his own!
Perry has done well with all dogs in his foster home, both large and small. Just last week he started playing with one of the other dogs. It was only for a few minutes, but what amazing progress for a pup who was scared of his own shadow just a few months ago.
If his forever home is patient and gentle with Perry boy, they are sure to be rewarded with gratitude and unconditional love from this boy who wants nothing more than a comfortable bed, tasty food and a home to call his own.
