I have been fostering Link since Nov 12th. The first few days he seemed so sad and withdrawn, but by the 17th he was wagging his tail and engaging with us.Before the week was up he would jump up and down on his back legs with excitement when I returned from errands.
He gets along fine with my two girl dogs and lays right beside them all the time. Additionally, he loves my grandchildren, ages 5-22. He loves to lie beside my husband or myself on our chairs, especially if we have a blanket on our lap. His favorite place to sleep is in the bed, but also does fine on a dog bed in our room. He must, however have a blanket.
Link is housebroken and has gone on a pee pad I have down for my little chi. He loves to run around in my fenced yard. He is not great on a leash because he wants to run so badly. He definitely needs a fence and a company dog. While he does not really play with either of my dogs, he is part of a pack and lays on my chair right next to me with one of my dogs.
His activity level is very low in the house, but take him out and he is full of energy. He will bark if he hears a vehicle come up our driveway, but I always thank my dogs for telling me and then tell them to stop and he is doing very well with that. He is not food aggressive at all, but will try to grab a treat first if possible. I always make him go last now and that has helped. All three dogs eat about 5-6 feet from the other and I have had no issues from him.
He is super friendly to humans coming in the house. He loves to go in the car and should be secured to a seatbelt or headrest as he will try and jump out when a car door opens. He is a little unsure at times of some noises and does not want to go in the yard if it’s raining or super windy, but thats ok I would not want to either. For weather like that he has used a pee pad.
Link is very ready for his forever family as long as they give him time to adjust and feel secure. I really love him already and he has blossomed quickly just needs a bit of time. Please only consider this precious boy if you are willing to let him adjust.
