Sadie is a gentle, affectionate love bug who just needs a patient, understanding home to help her continue building confidence and trust. Once she feels safe, she forms a deep bond and quickly becomes your little Velcro dog, happiest when she’s close to her person. She does well with other dogs but appreciates a slow, thoughtful introduction and a little time to warm up. Sadie appears to be house-trained, with only one accident her first night in her foster home. She enjoys toys and treats, which have been wonderful tools for earning her trust and helping her blossom. Sadie is not a dog who can be left loose when home alone right now. She experiences anxiety when her people leave, so she must be crated when unsupervised—this helps keep both Sadie and the home safe. With time, stability, and reassurance, her confidence will continue to grow. She is incredibly sweet and loving but can be startled by sudden movements or loud voices and will retreat when she feels overwhelmed. Based on her behavior, we believe Sadie may have experienced past abuse, possibly from a man, as she takes longer to warm up to men and can become uneasy if voices are raised. That said, with patience, she does learn to trust and enjoy affection. Sadie does well around children and is comfortable with visitors in the home. More than anything, she is simply longing for a calm, loving environment where she can feel safe and cherished. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a soft heart and are willing to give her the time and love she deserves, Sadie will reward you with endless affection.
