Salem is a smoke tabby with a soft silvery undercoat and a whole lot of heart. His fur may look black at first glance, but catch it in the light and you’ll see his smoky shimmer—very on brand for a cat named Salem.

Salem came into Proverbs’ care after his owner passed away, and he spent about three weeks in the home before rescue. Despite such a big change, Salem has bounced back like a champ. While he grew up in a quiet home, he has adjusted beautifully to foster life with young children and a dog, proving he’s way more adaptable than he lets on.

This friendly guy loves being near his people. His ideal day includes sunbathing, long naps on cozy blankets, and curling up in a warm lap whenever possible. Bonus: Salem is a total gentleman—no counter surfing or table hopping here.

Salem does need a high-fiber prescription diet to keep his tummy happy, and he’s doing great on it. The food runs about $80 per month and helps him feel his best.
