Alice was dumped at an East TN kill shelter on 03/06/10 while in active labor. She gave birth to 5 kittens that day. Kill shelters will only hold onto adoptable animals, and since a nursing mother and kittens cannot be separated, they were scheduled to be put down. We agreed to foster the family until they are ready for adoption. Alice has been so brave and sweet through this ordeal. She has been a true champion to her babies and so we have named her after Alice from "Alice in Wonderland". Now that she has weaned her babies and they have found homes,we hope someone will provide her with lots of love in a forever home. She will be spayed soon and looks forward to her new family. *UPDATE: We believe the twist in Alice's tail is genetic, as she exhibits traits common to that breed of cat. She is highly intelligent, prefers the compnay of people to other pets, and growls to communicate. While most Manxs have little or no tail, it is common for Manx kitties born with a full tail to have a spiral in it like Alice's! Other Pictures of Alice LB (click to see larger version):
