Terrier / Mixed (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Young : : Small
We rescued sweet Lilly Belle from a chicken coop where she was left outside all of her three years. We treated her successfully for Heartworm, put ten pounds on her, let her milk dry up (yes, she had several litters prior to our rescue), had her spayed and brought her current on shots. She has been with one foster for a year who loves her dearly but her Home Owners Association will not allow more than two dogs (and she still has two prior fosters). Lilly Belle does not attend Petco Adoption Days but a meeting will be arranged with an approved app. Her foster reports:
"It breaks my heart to have to let Lilly Belle go. She was a scared, skinny little girl when she came to live with me in July 2010. Now she is spirited, happy, a snuggle-bug who loves to simply be living inside and a part of the family. She is still frightened of men so she gravitates toward women but she doesn't growl around men - just shys away from them. She is also afraid of thunderstorms and will cling to you when she hears thunder. She follows me from room to room and sleeps on my bed with me although she does use a dog bed during the day for napping. She is good with submissive, patient dogs because she loves them to the point of sticking to them like Velcro, licking their coats, and generally being a pest like a little sister who worships her older siblings. She would need a very tolerant dog sibling for that reason. She would be great with older kids but young ones under 7 or 8 may frighten her. She's small with a wirey coat that doesn't shed much. She hates having her hair/nails trimmed or clothes put on her. She hates walking on a leash and is definitely not a good dog for someone who wants to take her for walks. She's content to be inside a fenced yard for exercise but not a good candidate to leave alone outdoors. She is okay with being left alone inside the home, is fully housebroken, minds well, and is never destructive or a chewer. She's okay in the car but it's not something she enjoys. She craves consistency rather than change in her life. Lilly Belle would love someone who is home a lot and lives a quiet life with not a lot of family coming and going. Not sure how she would do with cats. Please feel free to contact me directly about her if you are interested by emailing proverbs1210rescue@gmail.com ."
