update from foster 7/23/10
Riley is a very laid back and relaxed Chihuahua, though he craves attention and will let you know it by making a crying sound as if a child was throwing a tantrum. He does not like crates or kennels as we suspect the reason for this is because he was abandoned at the shelter by his owner and is terrified that he is being left again, though he does stay in one during the day while his foster parent is at work and he seems to be doing much better as he is learning that his human companion will be back home soon. He will lay on your lap and let you hold him just like a baby, this will make him fall right to sleep. At night he wants to sleep with you, under the covers or sometimes he will crawl inside your pillow case. He gets along great with other dogs though he does not like to share the attention if you are already holding him and he will let that other dog know immediately, and he also has no issues with cats. He knows how to potty outside, and his way of letting you know he needs to go potty is by pacing around the room, though he does have accidents if you don't let him outside after he eats. He enjoys laying outside in the sun for a few minutes but he is not an outside dog at all. A fenced in yard is required as he loves to put his nose to the ground and keep going, so a fence will allow him to do this but still remain on his owner's property. Riley young male about 2 years old and weighs about 6 lbs. He is total lap boy who wants to sit on your lap and be with you all the time. He is perfect for someone home alot or all the time. He loves other chi's and small dogs. utd on shots and neutered. He was pulled from the adoption floor of a shelter the first day we were allowed. he cried and shouted non stop on the adoption floor. He loves to be in your arms and loves tummy rubs, as many as you can give! Our foster is working on house training, Riley is crated during the day while foster is at work.
