update from foster 10/14/10 -

Thelma Lou is a mess!  I absolutely adore this senior beagle and I get teased at the adoption events at Petco every week, because Thelma Lou hates being in that crate when there are people and other dogs walking around, so she barks constantly.  Once she is out on a leash or in someone’s arms she is quiet.  Honestly, this is the only time she barks incessantly and I love the teasing that Thelma Lou causes me.  

Thelma Lou barks while playing with her people and when she knows you have just pulled in the driveway!  She is a happy girl, playful but gentle; gets along with everything and everyone.  She loves to snuggle her way under the bedcovers and will sleep the whole night next to you.  She is crate trained, great on a leash, totally potty trained and loves car rides. 

She has an ulcer in her eye and must take eye drops a few times a day.  She is very used to this and still has great vision.  She loves to lay in the grass warming her belly in the sun and going for walks.  Once in a while she’ll chase a tennis ball, but her favorite pastime is chewing a rawhide. 

Until Thelma Lou realizes you are not going to abandon her she will want to be wherever you are.  When she feels content with your home she is perfectly happy spending time by herself, whether inside or out.  Thelma Lou has been the quickest of all my fosters to adjust.
