Harper was found on December 21st with her nose rubbed raw from tracking. Because she was chubby,clean and friendly,it assumed she was someone's lost pet, however after two weeks of checking with vets,animal control and Craigslist, no one appeared to be looking for her

 A vet check revealed that she was in  her first heat and was  heartworm positive. Over the winter she was spayed, vaccinated and treated for heartworms. She is a lovely, loving little girl with so much to offer a forever family. She has done really well with my nervous female Shepherd and my elderly male Beagle. I have children ranging from 7-14, and she adores all of them. She is crate trained, good on the leash and 80% housebroken. I am working to teach her to use a bell to let me know when she needs to go out, as that is seems to be where we are not catching things. She has never had an accident when confined, and she will use the bathroom when she goes outside, but she cannot be trusted to roam around the house or to insist that you let her out.

Her one flaw is that she is a brilliant,crafty escape artist. Even though we have a 4 foot fence, she is continually finding ways  to get out. I have to watch for holes almost daily and no even slightly loose slat goes unnoticed by her. She will need a REALLY secure fence...six foot stockade,cyclone, buried deep into the soil. The other scenario that would work for her would be condo life with someone who is home much of the day and wants a walking companion. She is very social and accustomed to having 4 legged and 2 legged friends around her. I don't think she would do well being alone all day in a condo, but I could be wrong.

She has a loud bark, but she doesn't bark obsessively. She loves toys and bones, and can easily be redirected to them for chewing. She hasn't destroyed anything since she has been with me.

She is microchipped  as a safeguard for her since she is so crafty. She is a first rate snuggler though. In her perfect world, she gets a nice long walk at night, then, snuggles up in your lap, with her ears being gentl;y rubbed and falls asleep.
