A few weeks ago a woman came to vets office. She recently lost her home and was now living on the streets. She asked them to take her dog so the dog would not be living on the streets as well.
Rosie is a 4½ lb. Chihuahua named Rosie. The woman had Rosie since she was a puppy. Rosie is now 11 years old. The clinic has cleaned her teeth and gotten her current on vaccinations. She is heartworm negative and on preventative. It took her about 2 weeks to start bonding to the staff. Rosie does not like being around large dogs, probably due to her small size. She tries to “protect” the staff she has bonded to from big dogs so they have to be careful that she doesn’t become a morsel for a large dog. She accepts small dog and cats but she has not really bonded with them. She uses pee pads but will also go outside if taken out side.
