Meet Sammy!! The wonderful vet techs at Cornerstone bathed this sweet boy and his coat was so soft.They said he was filthy and seemed to love the bath. He has such a sweet, and meek temperament. According to animal control he was found in a ditch.
Sammy was in pretty bad shape and Cornerstone will be consulting with a specialist on Monday. Sammy is skin and bones, has an open, oozing sore on his hip, has a serious problem with this hip bones, and of course is NOT fixed.
We have now discovered that a
t some point this poor guy did have surgery on his hip. Sadly, for some reason the parts (staples, toggles, etc) which were to have been removed a while after the surgery, were never removed. This poor guy has a "horri
ble" infection because of that and is in need of some pretty serious surgery. His hip socket is pretty much gone, and he needs the femoral head of that hip removed as well as the pieces of metal which should have come out long ago. We are hoping this will allow the "severe" infection to heal. A month after this surgery, will we know if a second surgery is needed. If all of this is successful, it will save his leg.
Once he goes through all of this, Sammy will be ready for a loving home of his own.
