Updated Dog App

PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION

  • Your application will be sent to the Review Committee that reviews all applications and interviews applicants.  ALL applications will be reviewed and considered.
  • We reserve the right to approve or deny any application.  Our decisions are based objectively with only the pet's safety, health, and security in mind.  As there are times when we receive multiple applications for one pet, we use our best judgment in determining the applicant most suited to this pet’s requirements.
  • A home visit may be required.   We do unannounced home visits before or after adoptions to ensure the safety and care of our placed pets.
  • This process does include a review of public records.  Your signature on the application is considered to be consent.
  • Adoption trial - During the 1-week Adoption trial period the following will apply as well as to all fosters:
  • The pet remains the property of Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue until the adoption process is completed.
  • If a pet becomes ill or is injured (except in a life-or-death situation) you must contact the staff of Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue at info@proverbs1210rescue.org immediately.  When it is deemed necessary, you will be directed to the nearest veterinarian within our network to provide treatment.  We have several vets in the area who work with us, however you must obtain prior authorization from one of our staff before incurring any medical expenses.
  • Any vet bill incurred while fostering to adopt or fostering that is not approved in advance is your responsibility.  Proverbs 12:10 will not be responsible for unapproved medical costs.  While we want to provide the best possible care to all of our animals, there are times when an issue can be resolved without incurring these expenses.
  • If it is an emergency and you are unable to reach one of us via email, contact one of our local vets, they know how to contact us and will seek prior approval:

Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue would like you to take a minute and ponder the responsibility of adopting an animal.  We seek quality adoptions, not quantity adoptions.    Most of the animals that come through our rescue have not had the best start in life and it may take time for them to adjust to a new environment.  Animals, like many people, do not immediately take to a person or place, however, when given time, they adapt quite well. Most animal experts recommend a two-week period to allow the animals to adjust to their new home. Proverbs 12:10 wants you to take a few minutes to decide what your level of commitment will be to the new potential animal.

  • Are you prepared for a potty accident?
  • A slow introduction to your family (including other pets)?
  • Are you willing to spend the necessary time with the new pet?
  • Are you willing to work out behavioral issues?
  • Are you prepared to keep the pet if children or other pets are introduced into your home in the future?
  • Are you prepared to keep the pet should you move?

Animals are like children, the more time spent with the animal the better the animal.  Animals that are given the time and attention they need are the best pets.  IF you do not have the time, patience, and commitment for a permanent family friend, please reconsider your decision to ADOPT a pet and think about FOSTERING one of our many pets that need temporary homes.  This option allows those unfamiliar with caring for a pet to experience the joy as well as the responsibility they bring into our lives.

Application Process:

  1. In order to be considered as an adopter, you must be 24 years of age or older, emancipated from your parents, and have a picture ID showing your present address.
  2. If renting or leasing your home or apartment you must have the prior consent of your landlord.
  3. The approval process begins with you completing the adoption application. If there is a required question that does not pertain to your application, please enter N/A or does not apply.
  4. Any applications submitted after NOON on FRIDAY will not be reviewed prior to our Adoption Day at the Bellevue Petco on Saturday, but rather will be submitted on Monday.  This does not guarantee applications received prior to NOON will be completed before adoption day.
  5. If we have additional questions or need additional information, we will contact you via e-mail or phone to request this information.
  6. We frequently require a home visit prior to final approval.
  7. Finally, we will contact you to let you know whether you have been approved or denied. Please be courteous to the volunteer that has the task of informing you of this decision. If you have comments, would like to make additional information available or request a second review, please do so by e-mailing us at info@proverbs1210rescue.org .
  8. If we feel the pet you applied for is not a good fit for your home, we may conditionally approve your application for another, and will gladly make recommendations of those we do feel would be a good fit.
  9. If you are approved to adopt and have a specific pet you are interested in, the approval email will tell you it has been placed on a “temporary” hold for you
  10. Failure to submit the required paperwork and fees within 24 hrs of approval being sent means the hold will be cancelled and we will move on to the next approved app for that pet.
  11. Should you decide not to proceed with the hold/ adoption of this pet and notify us prior to 3 pm on the Fri before the adoption date indicated in your email, the deposit will be refunded to you.  Failure to notify us of your change in plans and not coming to adoption day as scheduled will result in the forfeiture of the deposit.
  12. We do require that ID tags be provided for the dog/puppy at the time of adoption. If you are taking advantage of our Adoption Trial, we will place our ID tag on the pet but you will need to return our ID tag at the time of adoption and replace it with your own.

ADOPTION FEE'S

Our adoption fee is required at the time a pet is placed on hold for you, as well as an additional spay/neuter deposit for all pets that have not been spayed or neutered.

We ONLY accept credit or debit card payments through PayPal. You DO NOT have to have a PayPal account to pay.

ADOPTION FEE FOR DOGS/PUPPIES:

  • The adoption fee for our puppies is $300 and includes a series of 4 puppy shots and microchipping.
  • We require a $150 spay/neuter deposit for all puppies too young to be altered. The spay/neuter deposit will be returned upon receipt of documentation that the puppy has reached the end of its sixth month of age.  We will attempt to contact you prior to the date of the required spay/neuter, however if documentation is not received by the time a puppy is 6 months of age you are in violation of the adoption contract and the check will be cashed and we will reclaim the pet.
  • The adoption fee for adult dogs that are fully vetted is $300 and includes microchipping.
  • Vaccinations and microchipping for our pets are given during ADOPTION DAY on Saturdays at the Bellevue Petco between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.

Proverbs 12:10 operates solely on donations and adoption fees.  Refunds are made ONLY if the animal becomes seriously ill within 48 hours of adoption.
